Legislators have told us that their constituents don’t believe there is a crisis in school funding. Many of them say that lawmakers are waiting to be given a nudge and "told to do the right thing."
This website gives you the opportunity to do both. If you sign the "Penny for Kids" petition, you are not only telling lawmakers—the people you have hired to take care of your business in Madison—that your schools need their attention, but also how to start solving the problem. Budget cuts have devastated our schools, limited opportunities for our children, and threatened our communities. An increase of just one penny to Wisconsin’s low sales tax will start turning this crisis around.
Here is what you can do...
1) Sign the petition

2) Contact your legislators
Today, no one in the Legislature—Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative, in the Senate or in the Assembly—is willing to step forward and introduce the legislation necessary to meet the crisis we face. That’s where you come in. It’s time to demand change from the people we voted into office.
What can you do?
Tell your story to legislators... Use these talking points, add your personal story, and contact your legislators. If you don’t know who represents you or how to contact them, click here.

o Write an e-mail or letter
o Make a phone call
o Go to their office in Madison or in the district
o Attend a district listening session
o Invite them to your school, PTA meeting, student council session, or other gathering
o Use your imagination... Make the contact and tell them you expect them to do the right thing … and that you will hold them accountable.
